Atousa Aslaminezhad


Atousa Aslaminezhad is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) at HeriotWatt University Dubai (HWUD). Atousa is an architect, urban planner/ designer, and educator working on the threshold between architecture, society, and future technological possibilities. She is an architecture design studio lead and coordinator at HWUD.

Prior to joining HWUD, Atousa taught and did research in architectural and urban design studios, computational design modules, drawing and digital representation, and environmental design courses at Ajman University and the American University of Sharjah.

She completed her architecture degree at Ajman University with the highest distinction and the ‘best dissertation of the year’ award and completed her Masters in urban planning at the American University of Sharjah. Atousa holds an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy of the UK. She is currently enrolled as a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp in Belgium with research affiliation at the Robotic Building Lab at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. Her expertise in computational design and digital fabrication is the focus of her PhD research.

Atousa has presented her research at international conferences such as ISARC. She has built and realised architecture projects in the UAE and Iran through her boutique architecture studio, ‘A Cube Architecture x Design x Education’. Her research interest lies in computational design and robotic production in architecture, pop-up habitats, post-disaster and emergency architecture, lunar and martian (Off-Earth) habitations, and digital fabrication: In-Situ 3D printing and material science intertwined with structural design and performance.

Her purpose is to encourage the students to generate ambitious ideas for the future and ensure the built environment’s future is created by visionary future thinkers.
